The company has return on total asset (ROA) of 0.1311 % which means that it generated a profit of $0.1311 on every $100 spent on assets. This is way below average. Similarly, it shows a return on stockholder's equity (ROE) of 0.2778 %, meaning that it created $0.2778 on every $100 dollars invested by stockholders. Steel Dynamics' management efficiency ratios could be used to measure how well Steel Dynamics manages its routine affairs as well as how well it operates its assets and liabilities. The current year's Return On Tangible Assets is expected to grow to 0.18. The current year's Return On Capital Employed is expected to grow to 0.26. At present, Steel Dynamics' Non Current Assets Total are projected to increase significantly based on the last few years of reporting. The current year's Non Currrent Assets Other is expected to grow to about 543.9 M, whereas Debt To Assets are forecasted to decline to 0.20.
The company currently holds 3.2 B in liabilities with Debt to Equity (D/E) ratio of 0.38, which is about average as compared to similar companies. Steel Dynamics has a current ratio of 3.6, suggesting that it is liquid enough and is able to pay its financial obligations when due. Debt can assist Steel Dynamics until it has trouble settling it off, either with new capital or with free cash flow. So, Steel Dynamics' shareholders could walk away with nothing if the company can't fulfill its legal obligations to repay debt. However, a more frequent occurrence is when companies like Steel Dynamics sell additional shares at bargain prices, diluting existing shareholders. Debt, in this case, can be an excellent and much better tool for Steel to invest in growth at high rates of return. When we think about Steel Dynamics' use of debt, we should always consider it together with cash and equity.
