Mr. Mathis Cabiallavetta is NonExecutive Independent Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Swiss Re AG since March 13, 2009. Additionally, was Member of the Chairman and Governance Committee, as well as Finance and Risk Committee, and as Chairman of the Investment Committee of the Company. Until April 15, 2011 he was Member of the Compensation Committee at the Company. Before that, Mr. Cabiallavetta served as NonExecutive Independent Director at Swiss Re from September 1, 2008 until March 13, 2009. He graduated from the University of Montreal with a Bachelor degree in Economics and from the Queen University, Kingston, Ontario with a Master degree in Economics. Mr. Cabiallavetta acts as Member of the Board of Philip Morris International and BlackRock, Inc. He serves as Member of the Executive Advisory Board of General Atlantic Partners in New York. He was Vice Chairman of MMC from May 1999 to August 2008. Prior to joining MMC in 1999, Mr. Cabiallavetta was Chairman of the Board of Directors of UBS AG, having held several senior positions in the company since 1971. He became President of the Group Executive Board in 1996 and was elected Chairman of UBS AG in 1998 since 2009.

Elected by the shareholders, the Swiss Re's board of directors comprises two types of representatives: Swiss Re inside directors who are chosen from within the company, and outside directors, selected externally and held independent of Swiss.
