He received the prestigious Meritorious Service Medal from the President of the Republic of Singapore at the Singapore National Day Awards in August 2011 for his chairmanship of the Changi Airport Group, in recognition of his outstanding contributions in public service and community work in Singapore. In 2016, Mr Liew was conferred Frances National Order of the Legion of Honour, with the rank of Knight. Mr Liew graduated from the University of Singapore with a Civil Engineering degree and is a registered professional civil engineer. since 2009.
