Mr. Leigh Clifford, AO, is no longer Independent NonExecutive Chairman of the Board of Qantas Airways Limited effective 26 October. 2018. He Clifford was appointed to the Qantas Board in August 2007 and as Chairman in November 2007. He is Chairman of the Nominations Committee. Mr Clifford is a Director of Bechtel Group Inc and Chairman of Bechtel Australia Pty Ltd and the National Gallery of Victoria Foundation. He is a Senior Advisor to Kohlberg Kravis Roberts Co, a Member of the Council of Trustees of the National Gallery of Victoria, and Chair of the University of Melbournes philanthropic campaign. Mr Clifford was Chief Executive of Rio Tinto from 2000 to 2007. He retired from the Board of Rio Tinto in 2007. His executive and board career with Rio Tinto spanned some 37 years in Australia and overseas.

Qantas Airways Leadership Team
Elected by the shareholders, the Qantas Airways' board of directors comprises two types of representatives: Qantas Airways inside directors who are chosen from within the company, and outside directors, selected externally and held independent of Qantas.
