Mr. Sumit Roy is President, Chief Executive Officer, Director of the Company. Mr. Roy was our Chief Executive Officer since October 2018, and our President since November 2015. He served as Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer from October 2014 to October 2018, and as Chief Investment Officer from October 2013 to November 2015. Prior to that, he served as Executive Vice President, Acquisitions from March 2013 to October 2013, after being promoted from his prior role as Senior Vice President, Acquisitions from September 2011 to February 2013. Prior to joining us in September 2011, Mr. Roy was an Executive Director, Global Real Estate, Lodging Leisure for UBS Investment Bank. Mr. Roy has also held positions at Merrill Lynch, and at Cap Gemini Ernst Young LLP. since 2018.

Elected by the shareholders, the Realty Income's board of directors comprises two types of representatives: Realty Income inside directors who are chosen from within the company, and outside directors, selected externally and held independent of Realty. The board's role is to monitor Realty Income's management team and ensure that shareholders' interests are well served. Realty Income's inside directors are responsible for reviewing and approving budgets prepared by upper management to implement core corporate initiatives and projects. On the other hand, Realty Income's outside directors are responsible for providing unbiased perspectives on the board's policies.
