Mr. John Wendell Thompson is Independent NonExecutive Chairman of the Board of the Company. Previously, Mr. Thompson held leadership positions in sales, marketing, and software development at IBM, including general manager of IBM Americas. He was a member of IBMs Worldwide Management Council. Qualifications Mr. Thompson has a wealth of leadership experience in the technology industry, including areas such as cloud computing and information security that are important to Microsofts strategic direction. As the former Chief Executive Officer of Virtual Instruments, he understands the critical importance of performance and reliability in physical, virtual, and cloud computing environments. During his 10year tenure as Chief Executive Officer of Symantec, Mr. Thompson oversaw its transformation into a leader in security, storage, and systems management solutions for individual consumers and large enterprises.
