Mr. Charles E. Schalliol is Independent Chairman of the Board of First Merchants Corporationration Mr. Schalliol was most recently a senior advisor in the Indianapolis office of the international law firm, Faegre Baker Daniels, LLP. He provides consulting services to the Customized Fund Investment Group of Grosvenor Securities LLC, on global infrastructure projects. Mr. Schalliol is a director of two VC funds, and he is a director of the Purdue Research Foundation and the Indiana University Research and Technology Corporationrationration, which are dedicated to enhancing those Universities research and development capabilities, promoting entrepreneurship, and creating new Indianabased companies. He chairs the Board of Directors of the Indiana Secondary Market for Education Loans, Inc., a nonprofit corporation that is Indianas designated provider of student loan services. He served as the Director of the Indiana Office of Management and Budget and as the Chief Financial Officer for the State of Indiana from 2004 to 2007, in the administration of Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels. As OMB Director, he was responsible for the States budgets and financial operations, including its pension funds, as well as agencies that had more than 2, 000 state employees. Before heading the OMB, Mr. Schalliol served as the first President and CEO of BioCrossroads, an economic development organization focused on life sciences companies, and he continues to serve that organization as a director. He previously held executive positions with Eli Lilly and Company, a leading worldwide pharmaceuticals company, in the areas of strategic planning, investment banking and business development. Mr. Schalliol was the founder and managing director of three Lilly venture funds. Mr. Schalliol chairs the Boards Compensation and Human Resources Committee, and he also serves on the Boards Nominating and Governance Committee. since 2007.
